I still have bad dreams about taking exams. Sometimes I am too late, or it is the wrong day or the wrong hall. Occasionally I have forgotten to revise at all but mainly I have revised the wrong subject. Last night the exam paper was made of chocolate and I ate it before I read the questions. I was surprised all over again when I woke up and remembered that I had graduated.

Oh my gosh, I have had all these same dreams, except for the chocolate exam paper... That's a new one. :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't mind exams at the time I was taking plenty of them, but as I watch my boys begin to get onto that treadmill, I am pitifully grateful not to have to join them.
ReplyDeleteSo I am not the only one having nightmares about exams. Except for me it's pretty much always the same: I am asked questions and I NEVER have the answer or my voice is totally GONE or somethign like that. And I wake up jumping from the bed ... horrible.
ReplyDeleteYes I have all the same ones (except the chocolate one, which does seem an improvement on the usual ones!). xx
ReplyDeleteFor me, bad dreams are from the other side of school life. Having taught in schools, I dream the register goes blank & I have an unruly class, none of whose names I know.
ReplyDeleteThis is so familiar. I can't read the questions properly and I am exasperated beyond belief. I usually remonstrate with someone about the unfairness of having to sit the exam. There is often a complicated an impossible procedure to follow involving telephones that don't work. Exhausting.
ReplyDeleteThey are becoming rarer as I get older though.
This is fascinating. I still have bad dreams about exams as well - it's almost exam time and I don't know ANYTHING. I assumed it was just me, but it seems not. They are obviously deeply traumatising to us all. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a horrible dream - I dream I've finished my exams but then realise I haven't written my dissertation; cue panic!
ReplyDeleteA slight twist on this, is that just as I'm falling asleep, I get an attack of the horrors that I have forgotten to take my contraceptive pill and wake in a state. I now have to remind myself before falling asleep that I don't have to go through this, I haven't forgotten it. I last took the Pill in 1993, and have been post menopausal for six years. I have no idea what that is all about!! Liz
ReplyDeleteWell I am glad that it was a chocolate exam paper that you ate, not a paper one, at least it was tastier!! I hate when I have weird dreams like this, very discombobulating! xx
ReplyDeleteI have those exam dreams too - forgot to study...didn't turn up to any classes...in the wrong place. I've never had a chocolate paper though!
ReplyDeleteThis is a common experience well known to psychologists. I often sit a paper in the half subject geography which was never included in my tripos syllabus
ReplyDeleteOh good gawd yes. These are such a common occurence for me at 3am that I have an emergency quilt nearby to provide post-dream comfort. Sometimes a pot of tea is required.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a chocolate exam paper.
I have never had a dream about exams and I hated the things. I am the lucky one!
