MissM is browsing the internet.

MissM
What do you think of this??
(sample a)

MrM
(anxious to please)
Errrr...
isn't it quite similar
to the dress that you just bought?

(sample b)

MissM
No.
That is a different colour.
And material.
And design.

MrM
Right.

MissM
What do you think of this?

(sample c)

MrM
(trying very hard)
What are those little wing things?

MissM
THAT is a bustle.

Can you go and sit somewhere else
so that Mummy can come and sit here
.

MrM sighs heavily
and moves to a lower place
in the pecking order.

It's good he knows his place.

(sigh)

I am ALONE in such matters.

I am glad that Miss M can manage these situations so well.

At least he tries. Mr DC just stands at the door of the shops checking his smartphone.

Ha! loved the post. My daughter would NEVER have asked my husbands opinion on anything so important. Besides which he would have been clueless.

It's such a man thing... and all I could think was how lovely to have a daughter.

It's the look of fear in a man's eyes in these situations........... you've got to feel sorry for them.........

It is the future Mr. Miss.M I feel for. Will Mr. M be giving tutorials and survival seminars after Sunday roasts?

It was the "can you go and sit somewhere else so that Mummy can come sit here?" that spoke to my heart.

How I love MissM! Always a joy.....

Poor hapless MrM; you have to wonder why he even tries.

(But then, sometimes I try too, when enduring TK Maxx with the Lovely Son; occasionally I forget to keep my mouth tightly shut and not hold up t-shirts as a suggestion. An Exocet missile could not be more cruel than his instant response....)

Tell MissM I would like to borrow the one with the bustle, if she decides to go that route. That pattern is adorable.

My daughter says it's better not ask her father his opinion as he always says exactly what he thinks. I'm not sure whether that make me shallow though!

I am impressed that MissM even involved MrM in such matters ... that 's good, even if he was asked to move, he was involved ...

I love that she still calls you Mummy.

90% of the time this is why my Dad refuses to come in to shops when he and my Mum come to visit. And then there is the 10% of the time when he pulls rabbit out of hat and stuns us all in to silence with a particularly apt observation....
