I don't think anyone would find that funny. I feel devastated on your behalf. Ice cream at midnight sounds wonderful though.....

Oh, I am so sorry about the photos - but you still have the experience and the memories, and I am just rather sad that you didn't take me with you in your suitcase. We nearly went to Florence on our honeymoon, then went on a tour of Turkey instead where I fainted at the gates of Ephesus and had the worst holiday of my life, ever!

Not laughing at all. It sounds as though you had a wonderful time despite the photos being lost... and of course you have to go back now!
If you time it right with the next ash cloud, you could get yourself stranded in Florence with Miss M and the gelato. Just saying ...
