of dreams

I think that this post
is about the power of love.

Love confounding expectations.

A tropical garden created by an artist
and restored by a designer and his partner.

High walls surrounding silence
in a city of noise and movement.

Vibrant colours
that melt in sunlight
to become soft.

Cacti creating mysterious shapes
and sculptural shadows.

Paths following water
to private spaces.

I did not think to fall in love
but sometimes you are caught off guard.

It is a garden
to linger in,

to discover a world
you did not know,

and to return to
in dreams.

  1. While I was reading I thought, that looks like the Yves Saint Laurent garden, and it is! I would so love to see it. Is it as beautiful as I imagine it to be? xx

  3. Your posts are taking me back to a wonderful trip that I made to Marrakesh a few years ago. This garden was a real high point, the colours, the pots, the bamboo glades. Mint tea in the cafe. Bliss.

  4. I know how it feels to fall in love with a garden unexpectedly and I can understand when I see this one. Never having been in Marrakesh it happened to me in Heligan many years ago. And with the Garden of Evening Mists (Tan Twan Eng) even that one being imaginary didn't stop me from falling in love with it rather than the book if you know what I mean. cath

  6. love that last photo particularly with the bold yellow and blue - inspiration for a quilt methinks - another one to join the ever-increasing queue to be made

  7. I once painted this garden from a photograph - love the delicious blue of the building - and the photo of yours showing the palm tree reflections is perfect.
