in the darkness

Jackson Pollock, No. 32, 1950

I had a nightmare last night, a nameless terror, and cried out with fright. In the darkness MrM patted my arm until the fear subsided. As I sank back into a dreamless sleep I thought "this is what it is like to be loved".

  1. I dreamed the house slid off its foundation.
    K was already up.

  3. I was actually very sick with a tummy virus (I will spare you the details) a few nights ago so I was up for a few hours ... VERY sick ... Fabio never even realized it. When I asked the next morning he said he THOUGHT he heard something but never acted on that thought ...
    Yeah, I'm safe allright.

  4. Since my husband died and i have no one to hold me at night, my brain has somehow saved me from night terrors by generally not dreaming at all. Which is a bit weird. I have to confess to feeling a pang of jealousy for your cosyness. But my husband was like Paola's. The truth is, he probably wouldn't have noticed. The wonder of rose tinted spectacles x

  5. I had a bad dream once and woke up to screams. Unfortunately, they were coming from hubby as I had sunk my teeth into his shoulder in a form of self defence. Poor man. I think he's a bit afraid of me these days.

  6. To have someone that truly cares is a gift.

  7. I fear that this points me in a better light than I deserve. Probably an involuntary response to MrsM taking more than her fair share of the duvet I expect.

  8. a lovely post, and I adore MrMs response. When I wake at night I find great comfort in being able to prod The Husband until he wakes and soothes me. However, he too, probably sees it less as a romantic gesture and more as a means of getting back to sleep!
