MrsM, domestic failure

Dido goes shopping in Waitrose

I want to tell you that this weekend
has been a tranquil experience,
creating a harmonious space
for my beloved and grateful family.
that I have drifted through sunlit rooms,
at all times present in the moment.

But it has not been like that.
Not at all.

It feels as though I have spent
the entire weekend buying stuff,
carrying stuff, unpacking stuff,
stuffing stuff into my stuffed house.
And although I bought a wagon load of food
somehow there was nothing to eat for lunch.
I've lost my domestic rhythm somewhere.
I hope it has not gone forever.
Let me know if you find it.

  1. I think it's probably off somewhere with mine. I hope they're having a nice time and that there's a beach involved.

  2. Oh honey, don't be sad ... go out and enjoy your garden.

Look at it from the other persepctive: no lunch=no calories ingested!

  3. It is a curious feature of the big shop that there is never anything for lunch when you have finished unpacking.

  4. Alas, I'm still looking for my domestic rhythm, but I do hope yours turns up soon. I spent a small fortune at the supermarket on Saturday but there is still nothing to eat tonight...

  5. I hope that it gets better! Sometimes life seems to go like that doesn't it. I especially wish that I knew where the food disappeared to that I am sure that I bought, but know that I didn't eat! xx

  6. Thank goodness. It's not just me.

Food and house-stuff seem to have an inverse relationship. I thought our house would get a little more spacious as Son took carloads of stuff to furnish his own place; however it seems that the remaining stuff has just sighed and stretched out more comfortably over the same space. ~ Laura from VA

  8. It must have gone to the same place as mine, too. We seem to be eating a lot of strange meals occasioned by suddenly realising something in the fridge needs eating up or the vital ingredient for something I planned has been forgotten. husband has also taken to suddenly announcing that he only wants a sandwich or an omelette when I'd planned a roast and pudding - must be the weather!

  9. There's never anything for lunch here. Nothing interesting, anyway. Do you think eating cereal could become as acceptable at midday as it is before bedtime?

  11. I think it's gone on holiday with mine - my weekend had an unexpected day in A&E with my 84yo dad and a broken elbow - that threw all my plans out of the window as you can imagine - still it could have been far worse it could've been a hip - now that doesn't bear thinking about!
