Dear Cathy,
I want you to imagine
that you have just had lunch
in a tiny French bistro
and you set off for a stroll
in an isolated hill top village...
walk through this arch
and you have arrived
in Hollyhock land
pale pink,
sugar pink,
deep pink,
bright pink
every way you turn
there are more hollyhocks
You are in a
parallel floral universe
created just for you!
You can't stay very long
so one quick look backwards
and then back down the hill
to reality,
an isolated hill top village
and one of my favourite people.
I saved these pictures
for a special person
on a rainy day
and today is that day
and you are that person.
Love Alice x

ReplyDeleteI have feasted my eyes on these. Thank you.
A rescue mission was mounted at this end and the hollyhocks I could save have been tied up and now look rather tipsy.......
Hollyhock Heaven, another beautiful post. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, those of us less special persons enjoyed this too! I love hollyhocks.....
ReplyDeleteI echo Rachel's words.
ReplyDeleteI cannot grow hollyhocks. I love them, but I always, always kill them. I don't know how I do it, but I am glad I could look at your photos and enjoy them in safety!
ReplyDeleteHollyhocks would make quite a good swear if said correctly
ReplyDeleteeven a swearword ...
ReplyDeletefestina lente

Ah yes, more haste, less speed. It used to be my motto. I do think. though, that horlicks is a better word...
ReplyDeletethe stop between 'think and though' should, obviously, not be there...
