Raspberry Ripple cake

Have I mentioned the Examiners' cakes yet?

Today I made Raspberry Ripple cake
which was like an inside out trifle.
(I thought of you, Gina!)

The Assistant Registrar attending the meeting
was astonished at the concept of a cake break.
I explained that it was a tradition.
He didn't complain.

I've been making cakes for the Examiners for five years now.
That's long enough to be a tradition.
(And they're worth it.)

    1. It is an ordinary Victoria sponge cake with raspberry jam, fresh raspberries and whipped double cream. I added some icing sugar to the cream to stabilise it because the cake would not be eaten immediately.

  2. Currently scoffing a corn meal lemon glaze cake. Scoffing because my tea date with friends was cancelled at the last minute. So here I sit with a hot tea-pot and a (second) slice of this rather yummy (not too sweet) number. Cake makes so many things just that much more... um... what's a good word? Help me out here.... yummy... no... better.. boring... sacred... getting warmer... satisfying ... yes ... satisfying. I'm all for cake breaks - a tradition every household/workplace should uphold. Make cake not war!! xx

    1. I always think that switching on a computer results in energy depletion and it would be irresponsible not to manage your calorie balance positively.
