MissM, Domestic Goddess

MissM is so organised
that she has already baked
the chocolate caramel shortbread*
to take to university on Saturday.
No shop-bought cakes for her!
Her grandma will be so proud.

  1. the apple never falls far from the tree - well done MissM - hope you settle in well wherever it is you are going to - Sarah took Brownies last year and they went down a storm - nothing like the taste of homemade cake to initiate friendshipos

  2. This, or something like it is on the to do list here. Master UB specialises in macaroons but they are rather too fragile for travel. His brownies are good too! He could leave some behind for his bereft mother.

  3. If I baked it today, there would be none left by Saturday. I admire her restraint!

  9. i just love family traditions...especially those that nurture our sweet tooth.
Just one thing...in our house, i would have to use semi-sweet chocolate on these. uh-oh. Now you've done it.

  10. Brain food! Sweet picture, all my very best to MissM on her departing and settling in, and to her parents, with the "there she goes again!"

  12. Swooning over that shortbread. MissM will be the most popular student at the university.

  13. There's nothing better than caramel, biscuit and chocolate. Until I try to pull on my trousers that is!!
However, home made is definitly best!

  15. I am embarrassed to admit that chocolate caramel shortbread is one of the things I remember most fondly about my travels in England. Right up there with hiking in Lakeland, attending Evensong services, walking the walls around York...what does this say about me?

Never mind. Best wishes to Miss M as she starts her adventure!

  18. Completely inspired and bizarrely have a tin of condensed milk ready and waiting in the cupboard

(though I was never this organised when I went to uni. If I remember correctly I forgot to take towels, but did have a caffetiere....)

  19. What a darling. And she's clearly aware of the satisfaction to be had from making something delicious to share with others.

  20. Bit slow in catching up with your blog this week - I wonder if Miss M has eaten it all now. We called it millionaire shortbread when I was little and I have this awful feeling my boys don't know about it ... will remedy forthwith.
