Saturday Morning

Henri Matisse
Odalisque with Red Trousers

MrsM lies in bed and reviews the week

Violet nail polish
Nasty shock in the morning.
Quite unsuitable for 'mature' skin.

Blue shirts for MrM
Too many.
All to be ironed.

MrsM sighs.

Green pesto sauce
After disastrous discovery
that jar of Tesco pesto was empty
forced to make some
with basil, parmesan and whatnot.

MrsM sighs again.

Yellow plums
sour, sour, sour
MrsM's cheeks have not yet recovered.

Orange handbook
MrsM's vibrant colour choice for 2011
has not been well received
Geographers prefer pastel shades.

Red and white spotty apron
It has not been a good week.
MrsM tries to think
of a reason to get out of bed...
She could 'treat' herself
to a new apron for her Saturday chores...

MrsM sighs deeply.

She is not motivated by aprons.
She makes alternative,
chocolate-based plans.

  1. Oh do tell if the chocolate motivation works- I thought of writing a shopping list an hour ago, and I'm still here...

  3. Ah, yes. You are speaking my language now. Chocolate and pesto from scratch. Add in some wine and perhaps a dollop (or five) of ice cream, and you're good to go. xoxo

  4. Definitely chocolate for motivation. Though some mornings, not even that can work.

Eeek! Guess what the word verification is: germist. Would that mean one discriminates against germs? Treats them badly and trash talks them?

  5. You need Emmeline. She's an apron that has magical qualities... you just can't help wanting to cook. Or just flounce about in her!

  6. We have just come back from our hols. I need motivation, but at this moment the actual quantity is an issue, we are talking pounds not bars!

  7. Funnily enough I was looking at that very painting last week at the Musee de l'Orangerie in Paris. Big trouser envy.

Be kind to yourself, and I hope you have a better week.

Chocolate based plans: how could anyone go wrong with that.

  13. Hoping that chocolate helped...we made fudge the other day, first time in many years, things were that bad. Hope your opinion of your violet nails changed, sounds lovely to me!
