Tonight he is back in Stellenbosch

ReplyDeleteFor various reasons, N has still not gone to South America -- I don't know if I should or shouldn't advise her to visit the silver mines of Potosi . . .
I suspect that if MasterM was impressed by how dangerous the mines were you may prefer to recommend Copacabana beach.

DeleteSouth America is a great place to visit, indeed. I never stop in regular hotels and resorts when I travel because chilling out by the pool and hanging out in hotel bars wouldn't give you an idea of what the place is really like. It's kinda dangerous to travel without guidance, but I don't see the point in traditional style of traveling. One just has to be extra careful (http://www.askwiki.net/How-to-Travel-As-an-American-in-Developing-Countries - kinda helpful thing to read for travelers) and get an insurance and necessary meds. I absolutely agree with the need for travel insurance - it is a great reassurance when MasterM is in the back of beyond. Anyone reading this who is planning a trip off the beaten track in South America should check the kidnap and ransom clause in their policy and make sure that the area they are travelling to is covered.
