Sweetness and Light

Tonight my home is silent
because everyone is somewhere else.

I think about our holiday
which seems so long ago

and remember the pleasure
of buying from a market stall

and the joy of spending time
with my husband and son and daughter.

and I hear their laughter
and it fills the silence.
