MrsM fails. Again.

MrsM has made a major strategic mistake
because she told everyone at work
when she went to see Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

This has resulted in difficult conversations
when MrsM has been expected to give
a critical analysis of the characterisations,
an intelligent comparision with the book
and a critique of the key differences
between Gary Oldman and Alec Guinness.

MrsM has been quite unable to offer any insights
because she went to review the relative merits of
Ciaran Hinds, Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch
and she did not want to be distracted.

Now everyone knows how shallow she is.
Sigh.

  2. I'm not sure you've missed much as a friend of mine went to see Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and fell asleep part way through - a definite sign of a significant waste of money at the price of cinema tickets these days

  3. HA! I am with you Alice, it never hurts to have someone pretty to look at in a film.

  4. Tee hee hee. Clearly your colleagues are far too studious and need to learn how to fully appreciate the finer aesthetics of life. I feel sure you are the right person to help them learn these vital new skills. (Alternatively, tell them you couldn't possibly divulge any facts because it would ruin the plot for them.)

  5. You know it is extremely possible to appreciate the talents of Benedict Cumberbatch on radio as well - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabin_Pressure_(radio_series)

  9. I'm afraid my answer would have been that Gary Oldman is better looking, so I'm just as shallow as you are. Though I preferred him as Sirius Black. Blimey.

And if you throw in the other three as well I fear I might just fall off my chair.

(I think I'm about to be excommunicated from our book club, We have a Serious Classic to read, that was recently filmed with a very pretty leading man. Time is short, and I am contemplating just watching the film ...)

  10. Live and learn my friend.
Sometimes one has to keep the trap shut and simply enjoy the little pleasures that life so rarely throws at us.

  11. Well - I mean RELLY - I would not like to be distracted from Colin Firth either. It's all about priorities - isn't it?
