Sunday Evening

In a strange turn of events MasterM is having dinner with my brother. In Buenos Aires.

We talk by Skype and it is so good to see MasterM who is in South America for a holiday with friends from South Africa. It is even stranger than it seems at first glance because my brother is now living in the same flat that MasterM spent six months in during his Gap Year. MasterM shows us around - there are several rooms that he did not even know about because he had an ergonomically efficient lifestyle which consisted of fridge, TV, bed. Do you remember the terrible accident with the fish tank? MasterM shows us the very cupboard where the fish lived their ill fated lives.

My brother is now headmaster of the school and Skype allows us to look from the balcony across beautiful lawns to the school buildings, we can see the lemon meringue pie that my lovely sister-in-law made and the bunk beds that my little nephews are so proud of. Then we must say goodbye and that is much harder than it is on the phone. Which is why we don't use Skype very often.

We had our first BBQ this evening. Another thing ticked off the list for summer.

  1. Here I am these days, commenting only sparey, when I can, caught up in the whirlwind that's my life in summer. Work, crazy hours, crazy people and crazy life.
    Winter, dear, where are thou?

    1. I'm sympathetic, really I am but NOT the bit about winter. I do not want winter anywhere near me.

  2. Such lovely salads.
If you tell me you made them I will be jealous.

Of course he is in South America. Where else would one travel to from South Africa?
    Makes perfect sense.

    1. I made them because when we have a BBQ I have to hide in the kitchen to avoid grill rage.

Talk about an international jet-setting life!

    1. I'm not sure that many international jet setters visit all-you-can-eat meat shacks before getting on overnight buses to save on accommodation. I might be wrong.

  4. Lovely to breath in the summer, via your barbecue salads, which is 'not anywhere near me' I hate the Southocentric (I'm sure your Geographers will know the correct word) weather forecasters who tell us how lovely the weather has been and now its going to be cooler and cloudier with only short bursts of sun. That would be the usual then.

    1. I'm huddled under my Galway blanket at the moment. It is lovely shades of lime green and ochre - you would approve. It is also for my use only - especially when it is freezing cold in July and I am trying to avert my eyes from the central heating switch.

Skype makes the world smaller sometimes - but not quite small enough to reach through it for hugs. How fun that the apartment becomes home once again. The salads look yummy. (May we assume that that is the infamous spoon?) I love that you always show us something very elegant.

  6. No! Those silver spoons were Christening presents for MissM which we have been 'looking after'.

My spoon may look like ordinary stainless steel but it is light and perfectly weighted - a spoon for a connoisseur.

Thank you! I love reading your comments and even though I don't always have time to reply I am really grateful to every one who joins in the conversation.
