in plain sight

Royal Doulton

MrM
Have we got a new jug in the kitchen?

MrsM
It's not very new.
We've had it for a couple of months.

MrM
Right.

MissM
I can't believe you haven't noticed.
It's really big,
it's bright blue
and it's always in the way.

MrsM
I think that's a bit harsh.
I put it there so we can all enjoy it.
Doesn't it make you feel good
just to look at it?
Well, I suppose not
if you have only just noticed it.

This one's for you, Granny Dot.

  1. This is exactly how I shall proceed with my new sweater. I'll work it into the atmosphere slowly and quietly with the hope it shall go unnoticed.

  2. Hubby leans in the other day and says ... I love what you've done with your hair darling. I smile and graciously accept the compliment ... even though I have NO IDEA what he's talking about. Later as I attend to pre-bed grooming I remember the compliment and try to decipher it's origin... my hair is up in a loose bun? It's always up in a loose bun ?? I'm not wearing make-up? Hmmm quite a common occurrence... I have new earrings in? But hang on they are the same as the pair before that broke? I decide I shan't sleep with the mystery unsolved so I question Hubby what it is he's noticed about my hair that's different? Answer: "Oh no... it's not really different ... did I say l different? Yeah I meant since you started wearing it up" (which has been since the day WE MET) Conclusion: Men are the mystery not women :-) XX

  3. More time in the kitchen needed, methinks. Intensive washing up course?

  4. The scent of basil is one of my all time favourites and I love blue and white china, the two combined are charming. I have come to the conclusion after many years of marriage that men have a quite different view of the world, literally, they can only see what they expect to see, and the occasional barmy driver (which is a good thing)
