Visiting the Sick

MasterM has not been at all well
and so I dropped everything
to go and spend time with him.

It is hard enough starting at university
- new people, new places, new ideas -
without catching swine flu.

When I finally arrived
I was shocked to see
how much weight he had lost.

We went out and bought a belt
and now at least his trousers will stay up.

Sometimes you really need your Mum...
and there is no shame in that.

  1. Oh my Goodness. I do hope he has recovered or is in the process of doing so. It really is unpleasant - my parents had it a few weeks ago. Wishing him full health again very soon so that he can enjoy himself again.

  9. These new skinny-boy trousers he needs? Did they have a hole in the back for the curly-wurly tail?

  10. Oh the poor boy, fancy making it around so many far-flung corners of the world in marvellous health and returning to Blighty only to catch Swine Flu! I wish him a speedy recovery and I should think you are proving a most excellent tonic.

  11. I'm so sorry he had such a miserable start to uni. The Michaelmas term is buggy enough without swine flu turning up and putting the kibosh on things. I hope you are OK too.

  12. You poor things! It must have been horribly worrying for you having to rush off, and I hope Master M was able to cope with the concept of needing help - not always easy at that age! I am glad that he is recovered now.

  15. All good wishes to Master M. I'm sure your TLC will speed his recovery. Looking on the positive side, that's one less thing for you to worry about. He won't get it again! Bobby x

  19. Dang, all I did during my freshman year was gain a lot of weight! Seriously, though...so sorry this had to happen, but I'm glad you were able to slip away from your regular duties to provide motherly care.

  20. Goodness me. All we had to worry about was Freshers Flu and the predatory second years. Mothers are truly the best tonic. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Cat x

  21. as well as a belt, get him a pair of braces... that way he doesn't need to cut new holes in the belt whether he loses or gains weight.

Hope he feels better soon, and starts discovering the joys of university....

Wish I needed a belt to hold my pants up...
