Message for MasterM

Dear Son,

We have a new toaster!

(I know that you suggested this
a couple of years ago
but we did feel very loyal to our old toaster
even though it was idle and slipshod.)

It toasts on both sides!
At the same time!
Without burning!
And you don't have to guess when the toast is done!

You can come home now.

  1. The siren call of a new toaster - I like how you leave the gadget itself shrouded in mystery, to pique his interest. Cunning mother, you!

  3. That should do it. It's been a long hard campaign but I think this strategy will pay off.

  4. Resorting to bribery MrsM - how very underhand - smacks of a woman desperately missing her son (((hugs)))

  5. You can try it but speaking as one who lives overseas I think you might have to up the stakes a bit.

  6. Well, I don't know about MasterM, but we, here in Tuvalu, can sleep well now that we know the toasting in England is well in hand.

  7. How remiss of me - we don't even own a toaster.

Note to self: must invest in one before children old enough to leave home.

  10. I know this message is meant for MasterM so I feel somehow intrusive for commenting, but I do like this post very much.

That toast looks very nice. I think you need some lime butter to go on it though.

  12. So if my mum got a new hairdryer, would I have to think about moving back home?

Because if you thought your toaster was bad... I started moaning about said hairdryer when I was 17 years old.

  13. this is too cute! good toasters ARE important though, I find that the smell of burnt toast lingers like few other smells.

  14. I was reading and smiling, then I got to the last line and my eyes welled up. How long till he comes home?

  15. Just last week our toaster began toasting only one side of the bread. What's more, I repaired two leaky faucets (this was Very Big for me), only to find them dripping again the next day. And now I am sick again, two weeks after the last bug.

What does it all mean???? Something ominous, for sure.

(Can't wait to hear if this proved just the trick to lure Master M home...)

  16. We have been looking for just this sort of toaster for a long time! Harder to find than seems reasonable, though. I'm impressed!
