Bento #3

Did you think that the novelty would wear off?
You were wrong!

Today was a layered salmon salad
with mixed leaves, potatoes and spring onions
followed by strawberries and blueberries.

I find it surprisingly absorbing
to make these bento boxes.
They only take about ten minutes
and I enjoy assembling the ingredients.

I sprinkle sugar on the strawberries
so that it forms a light syrup
and prevents the strawberries from drying out.

This bento box is being eaten
with my favourite blogless buddies
Paola, ToffeeApple and Liz in Missouri.
We are meeting in Bloomsbury Square
and going to Persephone Books,
Loop (for the knitters)
Hatchards (for the readers)
followed by tea at Fortnums.
Is that a date, ladies?

There was a very exciting Bento happening today
but you will have to wait until next week
before all is revealed!
A Bento Ta-Dah!!

  1. Oooh... I AM inspired. I think my salmon will have a few capers scattered through it. I may go with a bed of Rocket. Love strawberries and the sugar is genius (maple syrup even?) I will have to commit a cardinal sin though and include a wedge of dark chocolate... to go with tea of course! ♥♥♥

  6. Ok now I'm just jealous, bento boxes and tea at Fortnum & Masons. I'm green, green, green with envy as I will be mainly staring at my blocked drain today.
Have a lovely time Alice and please post some more lovely photos for us poor bento deprived northerners. xx

Ohhhhh - I'm so looking forward to lunch and a nice little trip around to the shops! :-) Salmon is one of my favorites and I'm very glad the novelty hasn't worn off because it's a fun inspiration. I have actually been exploring on line and I'm very happy for ideas beyond the basic Peanut Butter and Jelly!
