World Cup Fever

Indian Ivory Box c 1900

MrsM drew Côte d'Ivoire in the Department sweepstake.
She fears that their appearance may be brief
but she is determined to enjoy it.

Don't blink.

  1. We're hoping for good things from the Ivory Coast - Didier Drogba is a key element of Mark's Fantasy Football League squad and as he's currently 91st, he needs all the help he can get!

  2. Mmm - I feel the chances of you coming out victorious are slim but as you say it's the taking part not the winning that matters - try telling that to all the footie fans :o)

  4. Probably will do better than the Aussies going on their game with Germany! Love that ivory box, pity it is politically incorrect to own one :-)

At least a brief appearance means you have less time to listen to those honking horns! They're driving me insane.

  6. Ah. I see. Not much of a consolation but my husband was very excited with his new iPhone app yesterday - a vuvuzela. Sigh. Really hoping the novelty wears off soon...

Pretty box though. Ivory is a difficult subject isn't it. My grandmother used to collect it, so there are lots of little bits in my grandfather's cabinet.

  7. oh dear. And Drogba is injured...

We're in full fever here too, and that is just Mr M... the boys kind of get swept up by his enthusiasm.

and I'm having a great time with their Panini sticker albums!!

  8. The best (come to think of it, about the only) World Cup match I ever saw was Jamaica. They knew they had no chance. They danced, they stomped, they shouted with joy.

I think they were happier by far than the team that beat them.

  9. They did fairly well last night, and Drog-of-war had a darned good goal

But the sending off of Kaka?

    ...Inexcusable

    [did I mention I drew Brazil?] x
